I have yet again changed the way I’m drawing this, can you tell how? I’m quite happy with the results, even though there’s quite a long way for me to go yet…
Today I also drew the final pages for this story, due in december (should everything go according to the plan). Even though I know how it’s going to end, and the beginning has already been drawn, the middle part is still fuzzy for me. Let’s see where this odd little journey take us, shall we?
I noticed a mistake in this comic, and in fixing it I realized I’ve been messing up all the comics so far in Photoshop, meaning I’ll have to go and redo them all again (it’s cool, it will only be a minute per strip). The last steps I take before saving the final image are flattening the image and reducing its size. Well, it turns out if you don’t do the reducing first and the flattening last, you get a weird edge all around the linework (which for me is a separate vector layer). Go figure.
This might be my best strip so far. I really like Daughter’s expressions here, and Father is also looking the part. The backgrounds are alright, if a bit dull. The background in the last panel are halfways between cute and lame, so I’m not sure about that. I might have to look into drawing the backgrounds separately (can’t do washes or anything too complex when you have to paint in the spaces left by the characters and objects… at least, I can’t).
